Ford Galaxies in British saloon racing actually almost look like that.

Why was the Challenger shrunk to 1/10 instead of the Mustang and Camaro’s 1/5 size?

I didn't think the Cortina was a small car, but dang is that Galaxie huge!

It’s 80" wide. Which, at the time, was pushing it in terms of what was allowed on the road. The Sunliner convertible from a few years prior was 81"+, which earned Ford what amounted to a “YOU ARE NAUGHTY” letter from several states, IIRC.
Something like a Hummer H1 or a full size truck is wider, of course, but in terms of cars?
Widest mass produced
car-proper I’m aware of was a Chrysler of some kind, I want to say in the late ‘30s, at 84".

Forgot to mention: I have a Galaxie sedan of that year (‘63).
